Amble Spring Cleaned for Queen

It was fantastic to see  over 50 volunteers turn out for our pre-jubilee weekend litter pick last night, ranging from age 5 to late 70’s. The volunteers included 7 Town Councillors and local residents.  We met in the Town Square at 6.00pm where litter pickers, black and blue bags and gloves that Northumberland County Council provided were distributed. Everyone set off to areas in the Town that they thought needed litter picked and returned to the Town Square at 7.00pm.

Over 40 bags of rubbish were collected in just an hour!

The volunteers were awarded with incentives provided by the Town Council, businesses of the Town and Sainsburys.

All volunteers were eligable to receive:

  • 25% off any single transaction at the Farm Bakery Shop
  • 20% of a lesson with Northside Surf

We also had 1 x £10 voucher for dvd rental at 21st Century Movies,  1 x Fish and chips for 4 from the Harbour Fish Bar, 11 pairs of tickets for the Northumberland Evening Celebration Event for the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, and £250 worth of Sainsburys coupons which we gave away in a draw.

It was also a busy day for Pride in Amble who were working with the Prince’s Trust to weed and plant hundreds of beautiful flowers in the Town Square and Amble Business Club and their band of volunteers who dressed Queen Street with a colourful array of bunting and flags.

A HUGE thank you to the volunteers and businesses from all at the Town Council
