JCSC Sports Hall Community Asset Transfer
We are very disappointed to learn that Northumberland County Council rejected Amble Development Trusts Community Asset Transfer proposal for the JCSC Sports Hall.
Councillors have met with cabinet members and officers at Northumberland County Council who have reaffirmed their commitment to Amble and joint partnership working to get something positive for Amble and its residents. We will share information on this as and when we are able to.
Grounds Maintenance Arrangements
Council have taken the decision to bring the grounds maintenance of its assets in-house. This will allow for greater control and a wider scope of works aswell as providing a high standard of quality and value for money. Over the coming months you may see some changes around the Town while this transition goes ahead. We welcome feedback from residents and ask for patience whilst the transition progresses.
Town of Culture – Expression of Interest
We are delighted to support Amble Development Trusts Expression of Interest for the Town of Culture bid alongside our neighbouring parishes. Three finalists will be chosen, the winner receives £3 million, the two runner ups receive £250,000, with the money going towards local culture. This is a fantastic opportunity for Amble to really shine and if successful will help develop a strong and vibrant arts and culture programme for all.
Community Governance Review
There is still time to have your say on the Community Governance Review being carried out by Northumberland County Council. You can access the questionnaire here: Community Governance Review 2026 | Northumberland County Council
Neighbourhood Plan
Background papers for each of the policy areas have been drafted and will cover Housing, Economy and Local Green Space. Once these have been reviewed and with additional input from officers and consultant, the statutory pre submission will be arranged. Resident will have the opportunity to comment on the plan in due course.
Paddlers Park
Members have agreed to have the current water feature at Paddlers Park turned off for good and look to have the water feature removed due to the excessive running costs and the environmental impact it has. Members will be looking to add something in its place and residents will be informed as soon as possible.
Anti-Social Behaviour
There continues to be anti social behaviour blighting the lives of residents in the Town, most recently vehicular anti social behaviour. We are working closely with partners on these issues hoping to achieve a suitable resolution as soon as possible.
