Monthly Roundup – November 2025
Church Street Bus Shelter
The works to the Church Street Bus Shelter have yet to take place due to the recent inclement weather conditions.
We will update you as soon as we have further information.
Grants and Donations
This month the Town Council agreed to purchase and gift pickle ball equipment to Amble Development Trust. As this activity is increasing in popularity, we hope that residents of Amble will enjoy the use of the equipment!
Members also contributed £250.00 to Warkworth Harbour Commissioners towards a new defibrillator cabinet.
JCSC Sports Hall Community Asset Transfer
The Town Council agreed to support the retention of the existing JCSC Sports Hall as a Community Asset Transfer between Northumberland County Council and Amble Development Trust subject to the outcome of a successful Community Asset Transfer decision by Northumberland County Council, and pending the receipt of the full Business Case and related data for scrutiny by Councillors, Amble Town Council resolved to grant Amble Development Trust up to £40,000 over 3 years to contribute towards the development and running costs of the current JCSC Sports Hall building as a Community Sports and Leisure Hub.
Weeds around the Town
In Amble, plants grow through the pavement and alongside houses. The roots of these can damage the foundations of your houses. Traditionally, everyone cleared the weeds from around their houses, whether they owned or rented them. That not only protected their property from damage but was respectful of our community. Furthermore, some weeds, like black nightshade, are poisonous and have black berries on them that can be attractive to children. Please spend five minutes picking the weeds growing along your property.
Amble West Cemetery
After seeking advice from NAMM, weedkiller will no longer be used around the memorial headstones at Amble West Cemetery. These areas will now be strimmed. Unfortunately, this raises the possibility of damage to commemorative items and grass cuttings on the Memorial itself. Operatives will ensure to take every step to prevent this from happening.
Anti-Social Behaviour
We are exasperated with continuous anti-social behaviour throughout the town. Most recently, the damage caused to the long awaited and much needed public toilet refurbishment that was damaged and subsequently closed within hours of it being open to the public. This behaviour has no place in our town and will not be tolerated.
