The new financial year brings a change to our staffing arrangements. For some time now, the town has been very much busier especially from Easter to around October. We have increased the manual workforce over that period by employing a seasonal operative; however we want to continue to improve the appearance of the town throughout the year. From 1st April, we have taken out a 4 year Service Level Agreement with Northumberland County Council. We believe by working together we will bring about the improvements we all want for our town. Our environmental operative has been transferred to the County workforce and another person has been employed to fulfil this contract. However, like all new ventures, we do expect a few ‘teething’ problems but our administration staff will monitor the work and regular update meetings will be held to ensure all we want is achieved. We would ask that as you go about the town if you spot any areas of concern that you report them to our office or NCC so that they can be logged and acted upon.
