On Saturday 15th August, following 2 minutes silence, wreaths will be laid at 11am on both war memorials in the Town Square, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War 2 and Victory in Japan (VJ) Day. Wreaths will be laid by the Council on behalf of the people; the Far East Prisoners of War and the Royal British Legion. All are welcome to attend. The plaque dedicated to these has been moved from the seat in Lawson Street and placed in the Memorial Gardens on one of the new seats commissioned for this occasion.
