There was a fabulous turnout this year at the Annual Garden Awards which took place at Trinity Methodist Church Hall on Percy Street on 22nd July. The Council would like to thank all who attended the presentation.
Clare O’Donnell, the First Gardener from Alnwick Gardens, spent a day viewing the gardens, nominated by Councillors as well as members of the public; she was escorted around their respective wards by Councillors Bilboe, Weir and Rev’d Nicholson.
Clare commented ‘‘Thank you for the opportunity to come and judge Amble in Bloom, I was very impressed by the high standard throughout all of the short listed gardens. Choosing a winner from each ward and an overall winner was a challenge, therefore I must emphasize that if I was able to have 10 winners to choose I could have filled the places easily from the gardens I saw!’’
Councillor Bilboe again judged the Allotments in Percy Drive and West Avenue; he was very impressed with the high standard and found it extremely hard to decide on an overall winner- in fact this prize was shared! He remarked that the abundance, variety and taste of your own vegetables far outweighed the hard work needed.
The awards were presented by Mayor Leslie Bilboe, and the results are below:
