Following a grant application by Amble Army Cadet Force, which was considered at the Council Finance Committee on 25th July 2013, the Council have agreed to purchase a royal printed contingent banner for the Amble Detachment. The design of the banner has been approved by Army Honours & Distinctions Committee. An example of the banner is below.
The Members of the Committee felt that the ceremonial banner would be a great asset to the Amble Detachment as well as the town. The banner will be used in parades and events in the town.
In order to purchase the necessary accoutrements to ensure the safe storage and care of the banner and also to kick start the 2013 British Legion Poppy Appeal, the army cadets are going to do a sponsored walk from Alnwick to Amble.
The sponsored walk of approximately 10 miles will take place on Sunday 6th October commencing a the Alnwick Detachment and ending at the Amble Detachments. The cadets will be making use of their map reading skills to reach their destination, while carrying their own kit, food and water along the way.
A sponsor form for Amble Detachment is in the Town Council Office if anyone would like to pledge a donation.
