Today we have been joined by Trevor Jones, Head Gardener at Alnwick Gardens, to judge Ambles Annual Garden Awards.
Nominations for the garden awards were submitted to the Town Council by residents and Councillors. The rules for nominations were simple:
- the Garden must be in Amble
- the Garden area to be judged must be clearly visible- whether front, back or side- to someone passing by. N.B. you must not enter the property to view it.
Mr Jones was escorted around the Central Ward by Cllr Rev’d Nicholson, the East Ward by Cllr Mrs Lewis and the West Ward by Cllr Hinson. Luckily the rain stayed at bay for the day.
Gardens were judged on:
- Overall Design e.g. how it is set out, how things blend/ contrast
- Variety of Shapes and Colours of Plants and/or Objects used
- Standard of Maintenance
- Overall Appeal- ‘the WOW factor!’
We now await the results which will be announced at an awards ceremony that will take place on the evening of Friday 27th July
