October 2025 Roundup

Monthly Roundup – October 2025

Your New Councillors

We are delighted that we have three new Councillors on board.  Kath MacColl for Central Ward, Tony Regan for East Ward and Lee Osborne for East Ward.  We welcome them to the team!

Local Transport Plan Priorities

After discussion with County Councillors and taking into consideration requests from local residents, the following priorities have been submitted to NCC for consideration:

  • No entry from the alleyway opposite Tesco to George Street to prevent a rat run being created and damage to properties.
  • Pedestrians struggle to cross the road at the top of High Street, can a crossing point be created here
  • A controlled crossing is required opposite Morrisons on the A1068.

Church Street Bus Shelter

Councillors have approved repair works to the Church Street Bus Shelter.  It is expected that this work will take place on 10 November 2025 and will last 4 days.  During this time the bus shelter will be closed however a temporary bus stop will be in place.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause for users.

Grants and Donations

Councillors have agreed a £1000 donation to the Amble Christmas Lights Committee.  This contribution will go towards replacing the cable.

JCSC Sports Hall Community Asset Transfer

Council representatives are working to support Amble Development Trust in its Community Asset Transfer application to retain the existing JCSC Sports Hall as a community-run Sport & Leisure Facility for the town.  Meetings have taken place with NCC and JCSC, with the Business Case due to be submitted to NCC in November.

Active Travel

We have recently met with NCC officers regarding Ambles inclusion in future Active Travel schemes. We are excited to work with NCC to ensure these schemes are developed in the right areas of town (informed by some of our Neighbourhood Plan casework) that will maximise usage and public support, creating more impactful and better used pieces of walking & cycling infrastructure.

Anti-Social Behaviour

The Chairman attended Operation Impact, a multi-agency Day of Action headed by Northumbria Police. It was great to see officers from Northumbria Police engaging with members of the community in the Town Square and hope this kind of activity can take place more regularly.  We are aware that anti-social behaviour continues to blight the town and we take this very seriously.  We urge anyone who experiences or witnesses any incidents report these directly to Northumbria Police.

Neighbourhood Planning

There was a good attendance at the Interim Consultation Events for the Amble Neighbourhood Plan.  The communities’ views on the 7 policy areas will be taken into consideration when working on the policy areas in more detail.

The 7 areas we are looking at developing policies for are:

Local Green Space

Protected Open Space

Sustainable Transport

Community Facilities

Economic Development

Affordable Housing

Primary Residency
