Amenities Bi-Monthly Roundup – November 2024
Town
General maintenance and clean-up of the Memorial Gardens was carried out recently.
Permission for works to trees in a conservation area was approved for those in the Memorial Gardens. Tree work to commence as soon as contractor time allows.
Council is waiting for clarification that the bus stop on Albert Street has been deregulated, which would allow parking here.
Cemeteries
A finalised list of remaining memorials to be laid down is in process. Deed holders are reminded that they are responsible to ensure memorials are maintained. Failure to update contact details and to carry out repair requests will result in Council taking any necessary measures that are required to ensure safety for everyone.
Due to our Health and Safety legislation and regulations no direct funerals or scattering of ashes will be permitted in Amble West Cemetery in the future.
Allotments
Council is awaiting insurance response before beginning to repair the damaged allotment boundary fencing caused by a car.
Allotment plot holders will be reminded of which materials are suitable for burning and also bonfire etiquette.
