Amble Town Council – Monthly Roundup – December 2023
Coble Quay Walkway
We are aware of the update from Northumberland County Council regarding the closure of Coble Quay walkway. The update provided is not adequate and we continue to push for a full response from County Council.
CCTV
Our thanks to County Councillors Watson and Clark for their financial support for upgrades to the CCTV system. We are assured by Northumbria Police that the system is helping them make the town a safer place to be.
James Calvert Spence College
We continue to liaise with JCSC. Our latest discussion provided some update with regards to the new school builds. We are pleased to see that works to the South Avenue site have now begun.
Removal of bushes and shrubs – Ivy Street
Whilst we note that local news reports suggested that the bushes and shrubs in Ivy Street were removed on the instruction of the Town Council, we categorically state that this was not the case and we have expressed our thoughts to those responsible.
Northumberland Estates – Free logs
Northumberland Estates have agreed to tidy up the small wood on entrance to The Braid and have agreed to cut the wood into manageable pieces so that it can be taken free of charge for those who need it. Please be assured that this work has nothing to do with their recent planning application.
Northumberland Estates Planning Application
The Town Council held a well-attended Planning Committee meeting to discuss the application. Members agreed to object to the planning application, and this has been conveyed to the County Council as the lead planning authority.
Grants and Donations
This month the Town Council has supported Amble and Warkworth Rotary with a grant of £200.
Amble Youth Project with a grant of £400.
Great North Air Ambulance with a grant request of £110.
Alnwick and District Sports Award with a grant of £120.
Neighbourhood Planning – We Need Your Help
We are looking for a number of volunteers who would like to be involved in the development of the Amble Neighbourhood Plan.
The Neighbourhood Plan will focus on open spaces and conserving our heritage.
If you think you can commit and would like to be involved, please get in touch!
Community Website
In collaboration with students at JCSC we are continuing to work on our community website which will be a one stop shop for all things Amble. If you run or are a member of ANY group / organisation / class and would like your information added to the website (at no cost to you) please contact the office.
Parking
We continue to work closely with partners to resolved some of the parking issues experienced in and around Acklington Road. We welcome the recruitment of additional Civil Enforcement Officers for the area to help police inconsiderate parking.
