As you walk about the town in this new year, you will have noticed the History Trail way marker signs being erected to guide you along the two routes. There are also four new boards- with the trail map, more information and photographs- being put up. These are just off the A1068 as you enter the walkway to the Braid, on the ‘Mound’ overlooking the harbour, at Paddlers Park and along Links Road at the entrance to the Lord Mayor’s field.
Many people have asked for more information than fits on the boards or leaflets, so we have produced a booklet- ‘Reflections’- a light hearted look at some of the town’s past. Local outlets as well as the Council Office are stocking it and we feel sure many of you will agree it is great value at only £2 a copy.
Contributions for the book were made by Amble Social History Group, Amble Photography Group, members of the community and HMP Northumberland. The book is available from the town-council office at Fourways 2, Spurreli, The Fat Mermaid, 42 Queen Street and Amble Post Office.
