The vacant position of Councillor for Amble West Ward was considered at a meeting of Amble Town Council last night (11th June 2015).
Three candidates had submitted their interest in the vacancy; Katrina Cassidy, Ian Moyes and Paul Nelson – all residing in Amble.
The Clerk read out the expressions of interest, also circulating hard copies of the letters to the Members, and a ballot took place. Members voted unanimously to co-opt Katrina Cassidy.
Katrina has resided in Amble since 2001 and is currently employed by Northumbria Police. She is extremely active in local community groups, as the Chair of Amble Lifeboat Fundraisers and a Committee Member of Amble Community Team.
Katrina is an avid promoter of Amble and its area and believes strongly in raising the profile to attract funding and business’s to the area to help develop and improve facilities for the whole diverse community. She believes that this can be achieved by working together and with partners to ensure that with the growing population, facilities and amenities grow with it, allowing Amble to develop further.
Subject to the completion of the declaration of office, Katrina will join Cllrs Jeff Watson and Ian Hinson as West Ward representative on the Town Council.
