Craig Weir, Mayor of Amble, accepting the completed mural from local artist Sarah Holt on 26th May.
Sarah commented ‘painting the Amble Mural is something I have enjoyed doing immensely. It was a privilege to be able to do something for my home town. The mural includes the Amble of both the past and the present, painted in my own artistic style.
The ‘Dada Doll’ style which the mural is painted in is my own, with over 40 pictures with different themes already painted, including the one based on Amble which inspired the mural.
The mural is dedicated to the loving memory of my grandmother, Betty Kirby, who loved Amble and was actively involved in the community for nearly twenty years. She would have loved to see the way Amble has grown and thrived and so this mural is a fitting tribute to both her and the town’.
