Queen Street Relining Works

At a meeting between Northumberland County Council and Amble Town Council with representatives of the Business Club and Development Trust it was announced that as part of a review into parking and traffic flow in Amble, NCC plan to remove yellow lines (apart from the one at the top of Queen Street on the south east side of the road) and introduce restricted bays and loading bays on Queen Street.

The works are due to take place on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October commencing at 5.00pm and finishing at 20.00pm, weather permitting.

Whilst there will be some noise when the existing markings are being burnt off, it is hoped that traffic can be kept flowing during the works although there may be occasions when traffic could be stopped. No parking will be permitted on Queen Street  during the above hours for the duration of the works.

Disruption will be minimised where possible but if you need any further information or have any questions on the design proposals you can contact Dan Fraser, Parking Maintenance Co-Ordinator on 0845 6006400

Craig Weir, Amble Mayor, commented ‘I am pleased that after many meetings between Northumberland County Council, Amble Town Council, Amble Business Club and Amble Development Trust we have reached the stage of implementing improvements in parking on the street for both shoppers and residents’.

Further discussions relating to parking and traffic flow problems will continue over the coming months.
