Radcliffe Restored

Radcliffe before (248x330)

Radcliffe War Memorial (440x330)

The restoration of the Radcliffe War Memorial is now complete.  The missing letters have been replaced and the tablets cleaned. The work was undertaken by Hirst Conservation, a specialist firm, as the monument is a listed structure and needed to be repaired back to its original state using traditional materials and methods.

Taking care of  town and village memorials is a task given to all parish councils but sadly many are now not in a good condition due to weathering over the years. We are fortunate that we have been able to set aside money to add to the grant we have received from the War Memorials  Trust in order that this could be done to a fitting memorial to those who gave their lives for their country.

A respectful re-dedication of the memorial will be held on Saturday 2nd November 2013 at 2.00pm in the Town Square.
