Town Council Meeting 24th April 2013

Minutes of a meeting of Amble Town Council held on Wednesday 24th April 2013 at 6.30pm in the Council Office, The Quayside, Harbour Road, Amble.

 

1.PRESENT: Cllrs Hinson, Mrs Lewis, Mrs Dargue, Miss Morrison together with the Clerk.

 

2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Cllr Weir (holiday), Cllr Rev’d Nicholson (holiday), Cllr Arckless (prior commitment)  It was RESOLVED the apologies be accepted.

 

3. ACCEPTANCE OF DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST: None.

 

It was RESOVED that under Section 100A (4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public will be excluded from the Meeting during consideration of the following items on the Agenda due to the sensitive nature.

4. Review of Services – To consider amendments to job description/contract and guidance from Employment Law Advisor

 

The employment law advisor had made minor changes to wording on the Job Description and Contract of Employment however they did not change the context of the documents.  It was RESOLVED that they be accepted.

 

Some changes were made to the wording of the letters to employees including deferring the consultation meetings to week commencing 20th May as a result of the Local Elections and changes to Council membership.  The Clerk would forward the amended letters to the employment law advisor for confirmation that the content was acceptable and they would then be forwarded to the employees with the amended Job Descriptions and Contracts of Employment.

 

It was noted that if the employees were willing to accept the new roles this should be confirmed in writing and the employment law advisor notified. The employees may be entitled to a four week trial period.  The employment law advisor would draft this confirmation for the Council once notice of the employee’s decision had been received.
