7. PLANNING APPLICATIONS:
7.1: 12/01938/FUL – 2-4 Queen Street, Amble – Change of Use from Retail to Restaurant with an Ancillary Hot Food Take Away Use.
Members discussed the above planning application.
Amble Town Council welcome the new business and would encourage local employment.
There were no objections but concerns were raised regarding the signage for the property, it was agreed signage should be encouraged to be in keeping with the conservation and shop front scheme.
Concerns were raised as the property is on a very busy corner, traffic restrictions on Wellwood Street need to be enforced outside the property. If the traffic restrictions on Queen Street could be removed- as is to be implemented outside the business on High Street- this may help this venture. Reservations were expressed regarding waste bins going through the ground floor of the property passing the access for food and the dining area. As the waste bins are to be placed outside the property, Amble Town Council would prefer the waste bins to be placed for collection on the Queen Street side as severe access problems for pedestrians were caused while the building was being renovated when scaffolding covered the whole building and pavement. [Amble Town Council contacted NCC planning department regarding the pedestrian access problems during the renovation.]
Concerns were raised regarding the adequate height of the flue, as dispersal of fumes should occur before 1st floor level.
The opening hours for the business caused concerns, members felt it appropriate to check the hours were in keeping with other businesses of the same type on Queen Street.
7.2: 12/02009/FUL – 32 Gloster Park, Amble – Rear Ground Floor Garden Room Extension.
Members discussed the above planning application.
There were no objections.
