We have a diverse selection of opportunities for you to get involved with throughout July and as always you can find further information on each session at: http://www.coast-care.co.uk/activities/
We are particularly looking forward to assisting Kiko Matthews and the Kik Plastic team to clean Spittal and Seahouses beaches along her cycling challenge around the UK: https://kikomatthews.co.uk/kik-plastic
Following on from training volunteers to identify Pirri Pirri (non native invasive plant species) and survey the England Coast Path, we are running new group sessions for others to join in and take part. This will be a great chance to brush up on your plant ID skills as well as enjoying a social group walk. There will be future plans to remove the larger sections so watch this space.
There is another session at Boulmer Wildflower Meadow this month. Adrian Hinchcliffe from Longhoughton Parish Council sent this glorious photograph to show how the meadow has recently flourished. Well done everyone who has contributed to this site last Autumn and recently, it is fantastic to see the rewards of all your hard work!
Our next coffee morning is this Friday (28th June) and will be a great opportunity to meet Iain Robson (Access and Natural Environment Officer, Northumberland Coast AONB) and Katherine Williams (Evaluation Consultant). John Gibbon who is new in post as Community and Donor Relations Assistant at Northumberland Wildlife Trust is also coming along to meet the team.
We are assisting NIFCA to be a collection point as part of the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme. If you pick up any discarded braided fishing lines, monofilament and fly lines please drop them in to the office as they can be sent off to be recycled. Find more about the recycling scheme here: https://www.anglers-nlrs.co.uk/
Please remember to book your attendance to any activity via the ‘opportunities’ page on Better Impact – let us know if you have any problems accessing your account. It is a great help to us to know expected numbers for our activities.
