Real Christmas trees can be recycled into good quality compost or soil conditioner, or into chippings.
You can take them to the household waste recovery centre at Alnwick (Plot B, Lionheart Enterprise Park, Alnwick, NE66 2HT) during normal site working hours, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. (excluding New Year’s Day) – where they are collected and recycled along with other items of garden waste.
After Christmas, to make it easier to recycle your tree, Northumberland County Council have arranged additional collection points across the county. You can take your tree to The Braid car park from 1st January until chipping day, which is Tuesday 9th January. If you would like a bag of chippings, please call at the site during the chipping time which is 11 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.
