I attended the Service of Thanksgiving and Commemoration to the Battle of Britain in St. Michael’s Church, Alnwick on Sunday 15th September.
It was interesting to note that this is the 73th anniversary, time flies as they say. There was forward to the programme giving a good description of the events leading up to and the days of the battle, it was a well organised event which was followed by a march past in the Town by the RAF with the salute being taken by the Duke of Northumberland, and then afterwards for a reception at the Bailiffgate Museum.
It was especially pleasing to note that a number of other Towns in the area had made an effort so I did not stand out to much with so much brass around!!
