Having been involved with the best Gardens and Allotments, I hope next year we could get children involved by having their own competition- the tallest sun-flower or their own little garden? Do you think this is a good idea? Let us know as they would need to register at the start of the year.
Congratulations Warkworth- shortlisted for the best kept village; with Amble’s progress this year in getting flower beds to a much higher standard, it’s my belief we could aim for something like that in the future. I would also love to see the Allotment holders show restarted- I hope the Council would support this and it should be possible to get some other sponsorship.
The Council have taken over extra space in the Harbour Commissioner’s building as it was getting very cramped for full council meetings with public in attendance. It’s been a very good move as when the meeting room isn’t required for meetings, groups can use it for short term exhibitions- Amble Local History Society and the Photography Group have already started this.
As the Queen’s Jubilee is next year- there has been talk on what the town might do. We need to be ready- what we need is lots of good ideas involving children, schools, churches and the whole community. What are your thoughts?
